Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell.

I just caught a snippet of McConnell answering reporter questions under the capitol rotunda. When questioned about why the GOP seems to consistently roll over to the Democrats, his reply – me reading between the lines:

‘The Democrats control the government, our red wave foundered in a number of competitive races, we need better candidates and everything is Donald Trump’s fault, not mine.’

Here are my observations:

  1. I will grant his lamentation, several of our candidates were celebrities and a football player, not seasoned and experienced office holders. The US Senate is just absolutely not an entry level position.
  2. The most recent former President of the United States of our party is always the leader of the party. It is gross negligence for Mitch McConnell and the rest of the ‘never Trumpers’ to constantly try to undermine President Trump with all the cheap shots and whining.
  3. I am convinced Donald John Trump is the only Republican who can win the 2024 general election.
President Trump is also the only person who can deal effectively with Russia, China, Iran, Afghanistan, North Korea, Middle Eastern Arabs and any other potential bad actors to keep the peace while protecting all US interests.
Biden and Obama cannot do it. Ron DeSantis has never been tested. Donald Trump is a proven leader with a track record of success i9n foreign policies.
  4. The Republican Party will be much better off if Mitch McConnell in the Senate and McCarthy in the House, are NOT chosen as our GOP Minority Leader in the Senate and Speaker of the House.
  5. Neither the US constitution, nor any law or custom requires the Speaker of the House to be chosen from sitting members. We need to call Newt Gingrich out of retirement, to become speaker again. In the Senate make someone with clearer commitments to conservative principles the minority leader, possibly Senator Ted Cruz of Texas.
