The hero of Greenville Park Mall in Indiana, Elisjsha Dicken, is being compared to Uvalde, Texas police. The action Dicken took in 15 seconds versus the inaction of over 300 police officers proves armed citizens prevent crime.

The Greenwood Park Mall shooter Jonathan Sapirman thought he was in a safe Gun Free Zone when he began shooting innocent mall shoppers this past week. But, within 15 seconds of the mass shooter opening fire, Elisjsha Dicken, a good guy with a gun, got off 10 rounds from his 9mm Glock striking the shooter 8 times, and killing him.

Dicken was carrying a gun under a new Indiana constitutional carry law that went into effect July 1, according to police.

The Citizen Free Press of Greenwood reported that,  “Dicken was shopping with his girlfriend Sunday at the mall when he stopped at a cookie counter close to the main walkways of the mall. When the gunman exited the restroom, beginning his shooting spree, police say what he did was nothing short of heroic.”

Police say Dicken first engaged the shooter from a distance of 40 yards—-that’s 120 feet—- where Dicken fired 10 shots. Police say Dicken made 8 direct hits with his Glock 9mm handgun for an 80 percent strike rate.

Greenwood Police say, Dicken hit the shooter on the very first shot. The Johnson County Coroner said an autopsy revealed none of the gunshots were self-inflicted by the shooter.

Immediately following the initial gunfire from shooter Sapirman, Dicken moved toward the gunman while  motioning for people to leave the area. Once hit, the shooter attempted to exit the food court back toward the restroom he had initially emerged from. Dicken continued firing on the gunman until he was totally neutralized.

Sheriff Ison reported that “The surveillance video shows Sapirman exit the restroom at 5:56:48 p.m.” He continued that, “He was neutralized by Dicken 15 seconds later at 5:57:03 p.m.”

Police say Dicken fully cooperated with them at the scene and at the Greenwood Police Department where they watched a security video of the incident from the mall. Witnesses confirmed the Dicken account of the shooting.

It was noted that Dicken had no prior police training or military background.
