FLORENCE, S.C. – The Stingers of Florence-Darlington Technical College shut out East Georgia State 3-0 on Friday, defeated Walters State 4-2 on Saturday and suffered their first loss (6-3) of the season to Walters State on Sunday.

On Friday, the Tech Stingers earned their third shutout of the season as they held East Georgia State scoreless in the 3-0 win. Jeramaine Vanheyningen won the game on the mound. He pitched for five innings, striking out three batters and walking one. Hunter Parks entered the game in relief and recorded the final six outs, earning the save. Cameron Dean hit the Tech Stinger’s only home run of the afternoon. Dean went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Jacob English and Scott McDonough each had a hit as well.

On Saturday, it was Connor Campbell winning on the mound for the Tech Stingers in the 4-2 victory over Walters State. Campbell pitched for four innings as he struck out two batters and allowed five hits and two runs. Collin Welch pitched two inning, and Nathan Barolet pitched an inning. McDonough went 2-for-3 with a home run, 2 RBI and 2 runs. Edward Landron went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Daniel Gueldner also went 2-for-3 at the plate. English, along with Charlie Corum and Josearmando Diaz had a hit.

On Sunday, the game was called early due to darkness. The Tech Stingers suffered their first loss of the season when they fell 6-3 to Walters State. Josh Patterson suffered the loss on the mound as he pitched for an inning. He struck out a batter, walked a batter and allowed six runs. Tyliss Roper pitched four innings, striking out three batters and walking two. Chandler Woolridge, McDounough Diaz and Justin Hanvey had a hit.

The Tech Stingers are now 7-1 this season.

After playing the season’s eight opening home games, the Tech Stingers will now hit the road and play in the John Tindall Classic in Palatka, Florida. The Tech Stingers will take on St. Johns River St. on Thursday, February 20 at 5 p.m. On Friday, the team will play Hillsborough at 12:30 p.m. and East Georgia State at 3:15 p.m. On Saturday, the Tech Stingers will play State College of Florida at 10 a.m. The classic will conclude on Sunday with a matchup versus Hillsborough at 10 p.m.

The Tech Stingers will be back at home for Week No. 3 of the Stinger Invitational on Saturday, February 29.
