“He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer. This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD. For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth; To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death; To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem; When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.” — Psalm 102:17-22

How great is our God! In these verses the Almighty gives us a hope regardless our situation in life. Hear these words for yourself, your family and our country!

In verse 17, the Bible says that “He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.” Here the scripture is talking about those who are destitute of human help, support, protection and defense. We think of the church in the wilderness, the “poor” of this world in both spirit and in purse, of those who are “humble”, of those who are defeated in spirit and life, of those who have no human hope, as signified by the definition of the word “destitute”.

We can compare destitute to the word ‘heath’ at Jeremiah 17:6, “For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.”

Heath is defined and described as a plant which typically grows in uncultivated, wild and waste places. It is a low shrub, fruitless and useless which neither bears fruit nor seed. Hence of little to no value, and on top of that lives in a salted land that will not produce of its own accord. That’s pretty destitute! This word describes the destitute in this world who have no place, no substance, no vision and no hope. This signifies that the destitute person cannot even see when good is coming or perhaps is all around them.

Hopefully you have never been there, but anyone can become trapped into losing all hope. I’ve been there! It’s not a pretty place or in any way pleasant.

But, anyone can fall from whatever their station in life to depths of despair and suffering and hopelessness if they open themselves up to a destitute situation and spirit. The apostle Peter did! And so can we. Beware! lest you forget the LORD or allow anything to get in your eyes before the Almighty!

To those who have fallen into this state, listen, lift your head and look up. Verse 19 says behold the Great God in heaven “hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary”! That’s his holy place, where all is perfect and good. Why? Verse 20 answers “To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death…”

He hears our groaning—-the prayers and utterances—-of those destitute in this world even if they don’t know what to say or pray. The Verse calls these suffering, “prisoners”. Could you be a prisoner in your situation or station in life right now? You can become a prisoner to anything, including Social Media!

People become prisoners to a variety of afflictions in life even if they don’t perceive them as afflictions. We must not faint in even our most feeble attempts to reach God. He hears the prayers of the lowly, the afflicted, the destitute, the desperate, the depressed, the unfocused, the suffering, the fearful, the wealthy, the abundant, the hopeless, the financially broke or the poor, and the prisoner of whatever has bound you! Yes, the Almighty King of all does not sleep nor slumber where he cannot hear our most feeble cry unto him.

Put on sackcloth in your low and afflicted state, when antiChrist attacks, when the world seems to turn counter to your every need or desire. Be as the woman who pestered the judge for relief when he had sent her away. Pray day and night, and give the Lord no rest till he establish and regard the need of your prayer. He has told us to call on his name in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and “pray without ceasing”! He will hear us when we are destitute and prisoners of whatever afflicts us!

His eyes are upon us and his ears are open to those praying who faint not for their need to be met! The scriptures remind us at Matthew 7:7; Luke 11:9; John 15:7 and other places that if we but ask, all things will be given unto us! And all the glorious things which shall be done for the church of God will be in consequence of their prayers! Amen!

Jesus Christ our King will not despise our prayer, he will not reject it, but rather will receive it with pleasure, and return an answer to it when he sees the time is right. Seek him with all your heart, soul and might my friend!

The prayer of the destitute is delightful to him! Confess your deepest need to the LORD and he will save you! He will not turn you away! He is faithful to hear and forgive, and to supply all you need with his riches in glory!

Isaiah 55:6, says, Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near…

Is anything to hard for the LORD? There is a time for every thing under the sun. He has set a time appointed for you to answer your need. Answer the time appointed for you to pray! It is time!
