OPINION

Two weeks ago, staunch conservatives and community activists Aaron and Stephanie Berquist, owner’s of The Freedom Farm in Lexington, South Carolina graciously opened up our property to host a Fall Rally for the Republican State Superintendent of Education candidate Ellen Weaver. I could not have been more happy to host this for Ellen!

This stunning Fall day was dripping with local legislators, Republican congressmen, Freedom Caucus members, conservatives, parents, local school board candidates, and grassroot activists who all came together to rally support behind Weaver and to celebrate the recent obtainment of her Master’s Degree, which is now a requirement by law to hold the position for which she’s running.

I, Steph Berquist, stand by my bold words, “We have one chance to get this right in not only our local school board election, but our state superintendent election.”

Weaver’s Democrat opponent Lisa Ellis is an active proponent of “woke” liberal agendas, gender ideologies in school, CRT, SEL, and other harming and divisive materials in our public schools. The stakes are VERY high here, and we have one chance to get it right for the next generation, and thus we must rally behind Weaver.

Weaver is a proponent of supporting ALL facets of education, not just the public sector. She supports parental autonomy, and supports parents making the right education choices for their children, whether that be public, private, charter, online or other school, which is why I encourage everyone who is a parent, grandparent, soon to be parent, soon to be grandparent, community member, or any property or real estate owner to get involved and vote for Weaver, as this effects every single person, not just those who actively have children in the public school system.
